Private Mammogram
Digital mammography for screening and diagnostic assessment. Rapid appointment times, radiologist-reported results within 48 hours, and consultant referral pathways available.
About this scan
A mammogram uses low-dose X-rays to create detailed images of breast tissue. It is the most effective tool for detecting breast cancer early — before a lump can be felt — and is recommended annually for women over 40 or those with increased risk due to family history or genetic factors.
Private mammography appointments are typically available within 1–3 days. Our centres use digital mammography systems, and 3D tomosynthesis (which produces slice-by-slice images for improved accuracy) is available at selected sites. A consultant radiologist interprets every image and produces a written report within 48 hours.

Your appointment
You'll stand at the mammography machine. A radiographer positions each breast on the platform and gently compresses it using a paddle.
Compression is necessary to spread the tissue and produce a clear image. It lasts only a few seconds and may feel uncomfortable but not painful.
Usually two views of each breast are taken (top-to-bottom and side-on). The whole appointment takes 20–30 minutes.
A consultant radiologist reviews your images and delivers a written report to your ScanBook portal within 48 hours.
