About this scan

What is a X-Ray?

X-ray (radiography) is the fastest and most accessible form of medical imaging. It uses a low dose of ionising radiation to produce images of bones and dense structures within the body. X-rays are particularly effective for assessing fractures, joint alignment, lung conditions, and foreign body detection.

A private X-ray appointment typically takes 10–20 minutes including positioning and the scan itself. Modern digital X-ray systems produce high-quality images instantly, and a consultant radiologist produces a written report — usually within 24 hours. Unlike NHS walk-in X-ray services, ScanBook appointments are booked in advance at a time of your choosing.
